Key Features:

Health & Safety Audits:
    • Conducted on aviation suppliers to meet legal and insurance standards.
    • Audits are renewed every 12 to 24 months.
    • Graded using a traffic light system: Green (safe), Amber (caution), Red (unsafe), and Blue (exceeds standards).
Comprehensive Database:
    • Over 900 detailed reports available for clients.
    • Includes airlines with Bluesky by Bostonair accreditation, external accreditation, or recognized aviation authority approval.
    • Clients can:
      • Request new audits.
      • Search and review reports.
      • Verify external accreditations.
Grading System and Recommendations:
    • Operators are graded to assist clients in making informed booking decisions.
    • Airlines with valid accreditations or recognized authority approvals may bypass specific audit levels.
    • For operators from countries flagged by the ICAO Category 2 list (indicating safety concerns), Bluesky advises a stringent Level 1 Audit, limiting their grade to a maximum of Amber.

Audit Types:

Level 1 Audit:

Risk: Medium
Timescale: 7 working days

  • A level 1 audit is made from information widely available in the public domain, without approaching the Operator.
  • Maximum validity of 1 year

Level 2 Audit:

Risk: High
Timescale: 35 working days

  • A level 2 audit involves asking the Operator to complete a Bluesky by Bostonair questionnaire and submit supporting documents as evidence.
  • Maximum validity of 2 years.

Level 3 Audit:

Risk: Very High
Timescale: 3 months

  • A level 3 audit is conducted when a Level 2 audit has been escalated and deemed necessary i.e recent incident, more than five key findings on the Level 2 checklist (SMS, missing supporting documents or the auditors/client feel it necessary.)
  • Maximum validity of 1 year.

A new start-up (having less than six months flight data) requires a level 2 audit and will have a maximum validity of 1 year and be graded a maximum of AMBER. After which the level 2 audit is to be renewed by Bluesky (if the client wishes to continue to use them). For airline and commuter carriers if we cannot carry out a desktop audit after exploring all avenues then a level 1 audit will be carried out with a validity of 6 months and graded a max of AMBER.

On occasions (and only on approval from the client) where a level 2 is urgently required, a Level 1 will be conducted with a validity of 6 months as an interim whilst conducting a level 2 audit in parallel. Level 2 will supersede level 1 once completed.
